Have screening. Will travel.
by Todd Boss, poet
Last night I drove three hours north from the Twin Cities to the tiny log cabin library in Cable, Wisconsin, where 15 people had come out of the woods on a Thursday night to hear me read my poetry and show a few motionpoems. I’ve read my poetry and screened Motionpoems’ films for groups of hundreds, but I love doing events like these where I can get to know individual audience members and get their feedback on the work.
This one proved to be a tremendous audience with intelligent questions and a strong thirst for more. I like a plain-spoken audience that isn’t trying to outsmart fellow academics, and I love unbridled enthusiasm; I find it in abundance at community events like these.
Thanks to librarian Kristine Lendved for arranging this event.
If your library, community center, bookstore, or school would like to order a Motionpoems screening kit or arrange an event, let me know, or inquire at motionpoems.com.

Hey Todd….
We LOVED having you at the Forest Lodge Library!!! I know that everyone that attended the event was very glad that they roused themselves out of their easy chairs to come to the library. I was already a big fan of MOTIONPOEMS and am even more enthusiastic about them after viewing more of them and getting an opportunity to hear you talk about the work and share some stories. We would happily recommend a MOTIONPOEMS event to any school or library…and if they can get you to come and talk about them, more the better! You were articulate and amusing and so willing to answer everyone’s questions. It was an outstanding event!
It was fun to screen there, Kristine! Thanks for organizing it … and it was nice to see you at the premiere of our 2012 season in Minneapolis in October. Glad you could drive down and bring a friend. Hope s/he had a good time.
In reading your poem, ‘The World Is In Pencil’, in the November 2011 issue of Poetry, I was moved at such simplistic yet sophisticated poetry, a touch of all things planned. I was moved to check out your blog. Keep writing, Laddie! Keep writing!
Well, thanks, Armand! I love to hear from readers, and I’m delighted that my poem resonated with you. I’ll do my best to keep it coming. Cheers!
